The game starts off with the player given a mission to kill a 52-year-old famous arms dealer. People call him “The Jackal”. The player’s character lands in the northern territory of Leboa-Sako and is introduced to the harsh reality of life in the country.

Jason Brody, a tourist who has been stranded on an island chain in the grips of violent local conflict for years. Jason has been separated from his girlfriend and, in his search for her, developers have stated he will have to deal with a wide cast of mostly unstable characters who have been trapped on these islands for some time.

The year is 2007, and the world is suffering the aftermath of a nuclear war (“The apocalypse has had an apocalypse”). Rex is an American cybernetic super-soldier. He and another American cyber-soldier named Spider travel to an unnamed island investigate Colonel Sloan, an elite agent who has gone rogue. Upon confronting Sloan, he reveals his treachery, kills Spider, and knocks out Rex.

Ajay Ghale, an English-speaking Nepalese native who returns to Kyrat, a wild and untamed region of the Himalayas to scatter his mother’s ashes. Once there, he becomes caught up in a civil war as the people struggle under the despotic regime of self-appointed king Pagan Min, ruling under an oppressive monarchy.

The game is set in the fictional Hope County, Montana, where a preacher named Joseph Seed has risen to prominence. Seed believes that he has been chosen by God to protect the people of Hope County from an “inevitable collapse” and has established a congregation called the Project at Eden’s Gate.

Jack Carver has left his mysterious and bitter past behind him and dropped out of society to run a boat-charter business in the South Pacific. He is hired by a woman named Val Cortez to take her secretly to an uncharted island in Micronesia.

Jack Carver is a former service member of the United States Navy, who was dishonorably discharged following a number of illegal actions. Afterwards, he sets up a shop in Manhattan and begins supplying illegal arms to anyone and everyone, until a gang performs a hit using weapons supplied by Jack against a Mafia heir.

The game is set in 10,000 BCE during the beginning of the Mesolithic. It takes place in the fictional Oros valley in Central Europe, an open world filled with wildlife such as mammoths, dire wolves, cave bear, woolly rhinos, megaloceroi and saber-toothed cats.
